Holiday travel season is almost upon us. If you haven’t booked your flight for Thanksgiving or Christmas, there’s still time, but if you’re not careful, you could end up breaking the bank.
Airlines have kicked off new peak travel surcharges for select days over the holidays that can add an extra $20 one-way to your flight. On the positive side, airlines have launched holiday airfare sales, but many still include blackout dates, and even some that don’t still feature “Good,” “Better,” and “Best” fares or something of the like, making it clear that some days over the holidays are still cheaper to fly on than others.

I watched the World Series of Poker last night, and it got me thinking about a last-minute getaway to Vegas. In case you missed the announcement, a number of airports (47 to be exact) across the country will be offering free WiFi from now until Jan. 15th. This should make things a little easier if you have to spend some quality time at the airport this holiday season waiting for connecting flights or dealing with delays.
Some of the largest airports won’t feature free WiFi, but you will be able to find it in Houston, Las Vegas, Miami, Orlando, Seattle, and many more. If you want to leave the palm trees behind to check out the Christmas tree in Rockefeller Center, now is a good time to plan your trip.
