Northwest Airlines has joined the fray and matched many of the airfares released in the off-peak holiday airfare sale started by Southwest and AirTran. Like the other legacy carriers, Northwest Airlines is offering low rates on flights from Nashville, Atlanta, and cities throughout the country:

“To ring in the holiday season, Northwest Airlines is offering reduced airfares for holiday travel throughout the U.S. 48 and between the U.S. 48 and Canada. Reduced airfare tickets must be purchased no later than December 20, 2007 for travel on select dates by January 7, 2008.” (From the Northwest Airlines Website).

Delta Air Lines joins the other legacy carriers in matching the off-peak holiday airfare sale started by Southwest Airlines and AirTran. As with American Airlines and Continental Airlines, Delta is offering 7-day advance purchase airfare for $98+ rt between Albuquerque and Nashville and Albuquerque and Hartford, CT/Springfield, MA. You can also find deals between Nashville and cities throughout the country.

In the wake of the off-peak Holiday airfare sale sparked by Southwest Airlines and AirTran, Continental Airlines has begun to match and release 7-day advance purchase airfare deals of its own. Like American Airlines, Continental is offering flights from Albuquerque to Nashville at $98+ rt. You can also find airfares for as low as $168+ rt on flights between Atlanta and Newark.

Continental Airlines is offering deals to destinations throughout the US, but they’ve also kicked off an international “All BusinessFirst” airfare sale for travel in December and January.

With Southwest and AirTran releasing their off-peak holiday airfare sales, American Airlines and other legacy carriers are offering deals of their own.

American Airlines is offering airfares as low as $98+ rt for city pairs like Albuquerque to Nashville, and airfares as low as $168+ rt for flights between Atlanta and Boston, Atlanta and Chicago, Atlanta and Dallas/Ft. Worth, and more.

American Airlines is also offering a “Winter Ski Sale” to and from the best slopes in Colorado and throughout the country. The seasonal airfare sale is for travel from December 13 through March 11, but you need to make your purchase by November 28 (that’s tomorrow.)

Well, the airlines are definitely back to work in full force now that Thanksgiving travel is behind them. Southwest Airlines and AirTran shook things up by releasing major off-peak holiday airfare sales.

Southwest Airlines airfare sale is for travel on Tuesdays or Wednesdays for travel through March 5, with airfares as low as $49+ to $99+ each way. The sale is for 14-day advance purchase, and the sale ends on 17-December, so you have to act pretty fast.

AirTran’s 10-day advance purchase airfare sale is for travel on Tuesdays, Wednesday, and Saturdays (other days could cost you slightly more). The airfare sale is for travel through February 27, but the sale itself ends on December 13.
