Cities that have seen Hawaii Airfares hovering around $900 R/T or $1,000 R/T may finally be catching a break. A number of carriers have recently filed lower airfares to Honolulu from all over the Mainland. While places like Durango, CO and Dallas/Ft. Worth have seen Honolulu airfares drop to $700 R/T (taxes and fees included) or less, the cheapest flights, not surprisingly, are out of LAX.
American Airlines is offering airfare as low as $502 R/T (taxes and fees included) from Los Angeles to Honolulu for select travel dates in November. American Airlines is offering the lowest airfares from a number of destinations, but other airlines have matched or come close in some cases.
As always, these airfares can disappear quickly, but as of now, there are seats available. Search FareCompare to find the lowest filed airfares from your home airport to Honolulu, and start planning that Hawaii vacation you so greatly deserve.

An airfare war of sorts has been waging over the “smaller” Hawaiian Islands for the last year. First, the territory of inter-island carriers like Go!, Aloha Airlines and Hawaiian Air have been mixing things up by offering reduced rates to locations throughout the archipelago. Things got so ugly between the airlines, that Aloha and Go! (Mesa) had to go to court (The Court found in favor of Aloha). Court cases are behind us, but the airfare war continues.
Now, Continental Airlines has entered the fray. They’ve dropped prices by 25% - 30% from a range of departure cities to Kona, Hilo, Kahalui, and more.

Aloha Airlines has reduced airfare out of Orange County (SNA) to Honolulu in order to compete with ATA, who still offers the lowest airfare out of LAX to Honolulu.
Aloha dropped prices about $43, and at least for travel over the next few months, this should keep fares close to those of ATA’s.
Aloha Airlines has garnered a reputation for comfort and good service, and it will be interesting to see if they can give ATA a run for its money.
