
American Airlines joins the crowd with a brand new sale, which features low-end prices that match Southwest’s new sale - just $25 one-way (plus applicable taxes and fees).
An American spokesman tells us they have matched only the markets (and fares) they “share” with Southwest.

The airfare sales just keep on coming. In a relatively short period of time, we’ve seen a Southwest Airlines airfare sale, a Halloween sale from Virgin America, and a fall/winter airfare sale from AirTran. Well, Midwest Airlines and Frontier Airlines are joining in on the fun.
Midwest’s sale lasts until Oct. 30, and is good for travel from Nov. 6 through Dec 16. Frontier’s latest airfare sale is also good for travel through Dec. 16, but it ends on Oct. 29. AirTran just wrapped up an airfare sale last week, but the carrier is already back with a new fall/winter airfare sale. This latest sale offers deals to a range of cities across the U.S. and international destinations including Aruba and San Juan.
The AirTran sale ends Nov. 10, but is good for travel through February 10, 2010 (w/ a 10-day advance purchase). Not surprisingly, there are blackout dates around the holidays. Virgin America is offering scary good deals for travel on October 30 and October 31. Their “No Trick, Just Treats” airfare sale features one-way West Coast airfare for as low $31+ and one-way coast-to-coast airfare for as low as $62+.

Starting now - Tues., October 27 - Southwest begins a new 72-hour sale.
For short hops, fares are just $25 one-way - and the prices go up depending on how far you want to travel:
Fly up to 375 miles, pay $25 one-way
Fly up to 549 miles, pay $50 one-way
Fly up to 999 miles, pay $75 one-way
And if you fly 1,000 miles or more, you will pay just $100 one way.
NOTE: These fares are good for travel between Dec. 2 -16, and from Jan. 5 - Feb. 10, 2010. Southwest notes that, “the clock is ticking” - you must book by the end of Thurs., Oct. 29. More details at Southwest.

Here in Dallas, we’ve been dealing with some pretty steady rain of late, and it has a lot of us longing to escape to a sun-soaked destination. Luckily, American Airlines has just launched an airfare sale featuring cheap flights to St. Thomas and St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
