Southwest vs. AirTran: The Battle for Milwaukee

Southwest Airlines announced that they could kickoff as many as 10 daily departures from Milwaukee when they launch their services out of General Mitchell International Airport this November. The move to Milwaukee will put Southwest in direct competition with AirTran and Midwest Airlines. This doesn’t seem to be lost on AirTran, as the carrier just announced that it will launch new routes from Milwaukee. Competition is usually a good thing for travelers, and AirTran’s new routes already feature introductory deals. We can only hope that we’ll see even more of the same when Southwest heads to Brewers country. Check out these current Milwaukee summer deals, and keep a look out for more to come:

Last night in the 8:00pm airfare distribution AirTran Ariways filed a 14-day advance purchase airfare sale for travel commencing January 5th, 2008.

Travel must be completed by February 27th, 2008.

You must travel on Tuesday, Wednesday or Saturday.

Blackouts apply for Presidents Day weekend February 15th-18th, 2008.
