1. Even though I signed up for email alert, I did not receive the Nov 6 alert for Austin to Fort Lauderdale and missed a very good price. What happened?

2. Hi Rosalie,

   I had someone check our email logs and the alert for that city pair did go out after that airfare feed on the 6 of November. Unfortunately email delivery is not guaranteed, some Internet Service Providers do not deliver some of our emails (treat as spam — we work with them all the time) and many times local spam software moves emails to the “junk” folder until you explicitly allow this.

   Make sure you allow emails from deals@alerts.farecompare.com in you email client and this will hopefully clear up the problem.

3. I keep receiving email alerts that do not pan out. What is up and how to I actually find the deals that you publish and send to me in an alert? Example is today I receieved one for DFW to Peru for 425 on Delta. When I checked the website it was over $1,000 per person. What am I doing wrong?

   Unfortunately, not everyone can take advantage of the lowest fares listed. Airfares can change multiple times throughout the day. However, knowing about the fares first, does give you the best chance possible to find a great deal. Our CEO, Rick Seaney, put together a post on the best ways to find low fares. He also provided some commentary on our email alerts. Some have found the last “trick” he provides to be helpful. 6. Hi i have signed up for email alerts for over a year, however i stopped receiving them two days ago. I checked with a few friends and they too have stopped receiving them is there a problem with the system???

   There was a problem with email alerts at the end of last week. It has been rectified as of this morning, so you should start receiving them again.

8. I used to have the farecompare.com gadget on my Google Desktop, but it now seems to have stopped working properly. I had trouble getting it to save my departure site, and now it won’t accept any of my favoriet destinations. Is this gadget no longer being supported? Any ideas as to what happened?
