American Airlines Holiday Airfare Deals

November 2, 2009 | Posted in: Cheap Airfare Sales

Last week, United Airlines kicked off a holiday airfare sale and ranked dates as “Good,” “Better,” and “Best.” Today, American Airlines has launched a holiday airfare deals, and they’re ranking deals on days to fly as “Low,” “Lower,” and “Lowest.”

There are no blackout dates, so you can find deals over the holidays (11/13/09 - 01/04/10 ), but some days will still be cheaper than others. A 3-day minimum stay is required.

American Airlines is offering airfare specials as low as $56+ one-way to/from a range of cities across the U.S. and Canada. Check out cheap flights on American Airlines from your hometown to find the lowest airfares and the best days to fly over the holidays.

This is a crock, just like United’s “deals”. The prices are higher now than for an identical itinerary I bought in September for the very same dates. FareCompare must be desperate. Delete these e-mails as junk.

    Don,

We’ve always been proponents of shopping for holiday travel early, as procrastination doesn’t usually pay off. In fact, a good rule of thumb for Thanksgiving travel is that from here on out, every day you wait to buy that Thanksgiving airfare adds another $5 to your trip, at least until mid-November– when prices soar even higher.

However, we’re still interested in providing travelers who have waited to make their holiday travel plans with the latest news on airfare sales such as those launched by AA, UA, and other carriers over the past week, and some of these sales can actually provide relatively good deals on a range of routes during what is an expensive travel period.

The last time I got one of these email alerts I checked it out within 2 minutes and and the rate wasn’t there. Don is right. Just delete.

Thank you don for your message. It is nice to know that these sale prices are not the lowest sale these tickets have been priced but that they are the lowest that you can get at this time moving forward. I felt somewhat mislead after realizing what type of sale this is. I was expecting September prices when I just now did my search. Now knowing this, I can better adjust my holiday plans.
