The Hub-Buster Airfare Returns! Northwest Airlines vs. Midwest Airlines

April 2, 2008 | Posted in: Hub Busters, Midwest, Northwest

We love hub-buster airfares here at FareCompare, because they usually mean cheap flights for travelers. If an airline really wants to challenge a rival, they can undercut the price of airline tickets at that rival’s hub.

In the past, we’ve seen hub-buster airfares that have saved travelers close to $1,000. While today’s isn’t on that scale, it will still save you some money…

Midwest Airlines’ latest airfare sale offers cheap roundtrip flights from their hub in Milwaukee to Orlando. You can find airline tickets for as low as $178+ R/T. Well, Northwest Airlines has stepped into the ring and filed airfares for as low as $99+ R/T.

Even if you’re not lucky enough to land one of Northwest’s $99+ tickets, you can still find a number of cheap flights from Milwaukee to Orlando on Northwest for $147+.

As we’ve said before, a little friendly (or not so friendly) competition between airlines is generally good for the customer.
